My 5-year Journey in Informational Technology: Web Hosting.

What an amazing way to start the month. Celebrating 5 good years of contributing to the IT industry (specifically the #webhosting industry). When I was starting, I knew nothing about Linux and the different distros that exist. I only had an idea of what a #domain and #hosting are because I owned a two-month-old website by then. My understanding was in the context of a user and not an expert who knows what happens behind the scenes to have the website work. Today, I have a verse knowledge of this industry having worked in different departments which has allowed me to explore the industry to its entirety and be part of building and stirring #growth of different #products.

Over those years, I have learned (and still learning) quite a lot, some of which I have listed below:

  1. Empathy: It’s all about understanding and sharing the customers’ feelings. It is not an easy thing for sure, but this helps one build genuine connections and trust with customers and colleagues when embraced.
  2. Patience: Patience pays, right? Our level of patience has diminished over time as a result of increased instant gratification. Patience is a virtue that allows us to handle each situation with care and precision. Growth does not come overnight – It calls for patience, hard work, and working smart. It is one thing to know what you want and it is another to work towards it.
  3. Curiosity: They say curiosity killed a cat. However, the same curiosity is needed in the IT industry to be on top of the game as an individual and a company.
  4. Problem-Solving Skills: Thinking on the go and providing solutions quickly and effectively is an essential skill that will make you stand out.
  5. Positive Attitude: There are times that one faces blockers and all sorts of challenges in the job market. However, keeping a positive and helpful tone, even in these tough situations, helps one navigate and keep pushing.
  6. Active Listening: Whether helping customers solve their problems or leading a team active listening is an essential skill that helps to address their needs more accurately and efficiently.

I am proud of the achievements that I have made so far while contributing to the mission of the companies and individuals that I have an opportunity to work with and best of all, working alongside dedicated teams and teammates who work towards bringing out the best version of themselves.

I am and will always be grateful for the people who trusted me and gave me opportunities to utilize exercise and develop my skills. 🙏

As I kick off the 6th year journey, I am determined to grow beyond my imagination and explore further; The sky is the limit ✨
